Outreach and Engagement Program/Community
The Good Seed is actively involved in community outreach and engagement to make sure that we reduce the amount of time individuals experience homelessness. Our outreach and engagement program is organized with the help of community partners, and current and former homeless individuals. We believe that we can create lasting change through mental health promotion and have found that people experience shorter episodes of homelessness when they have knowledge about available services and resources. As a result, we have collaborated with our partners to create advertisement of services in areas highly populated by people experiencing homelessness. Locations include public libraries, medical centers, mental health organizations and other unconventional areas.
The Good Seed is always expanding our outreach and involvement with the community to make an impact on the crisis of homelessness that is experienced across Southern California. We connect clients from various populations with the healthcare and housing resources necessary to reduce homelessness.
The United Mental Health Promoters program, overseen by the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, targets all populations and age groups to reduce mental health stigma in underserved communities throughout LA County. Mental Health Promoters are trained community members who serve as trusted bridges between residents and mental health services, approaching support through a culturally sensitive lens. By receiving resources and information from people within their local community, residents have shown increased trust in mental health services and improved access to care.
